Come and enjoy over thirty, three foot high decorated bears and relive the days of the Greene County Fairground’s trotters, the Cairo Railway and Vintage Rose. Experience the Cairo Bears and Butterflies 2011 interactive community arts project entitled “America’s Original Vacationland Quest 2011.” Our talented artists have created bears, not only depicting history but covering the spectrum from sports including soccer, golf and karate, to our beautiful landscape of birch trees, waterfalls and flowers to Celtic and German themes and many more, even baby bear. Everyone will have a favorite bear!
Be greeted by our whimsical Bears & Butterflies am-BEAR-sadors from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day and enjoy exploring the picturesque mountains of Cairo and its hamlets. Visitors of all ages will enjoy The Quest, our interactive art project searching for each bear’s hidden butterfly and answering “America’s Original Vacationland” questions. Follow the map, find the clues, and submit the “quest” ions and you could win great prizes.
Get your calendars out and plan to come back for the “America’s Original Vacationland” events including Meet the Artists Nights and a Bear-A-Fair Auction, on Saturday, September 10th.
