DELMAR PROGRESS CLUB TO RAISE DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS
The Delmar Progress Club is hosting its annual Scholarship Fund Card and Game party on Saturday, November 19, 2011 from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Delmar Reformed Church, 386 Delaware Avenue, Delmar (near the Four Corners). Parking is available in the Church Parking lot and on the street. Everyone is welcome – the event is not just for club members, but for the whole community. The $20.00 admission includes luncheon and dessert provided by the Delmar Four Corners Luncheonette and will help the Progress Club achieve its $1500 goal to benefit a Bethlehem Central high school senior who will be going off to college. Selection criteria include academic excellence, community activities, and financial need. Last year, Leigh Yakubowski was awarded a scholarship and is now attending Vassar College.
Attendees don’t need a partner – they don’t even need to be bridge players, because other card and board games are an alternative for entertainment. People will surely enjoy the opportunity to compete for a special table prize and the chance to win the gift certificates and prizes donated for the silent auction, including a homemade quilt by Marjory O’Brien. Those who cannot attend will still be eligible to win prizes and are asked to consider making a donation of any amount to the Scholarship Fund.
