Om-FLY, a summer day program for ages 7-17 which integrates circus and environmental education with collaborative creativity and performance. The program will be offered in two 2-week sessions in July and August on the grounds of the Sanctuary’s beautiful 40 acre land preserve in East Haddam. Activities will include circus arts, trapeze and acrobatics, yoga and meditation, sculpture, video production, music, field ecology and organic gardening. The program promotes body awareness and mental discipline, connection to nature, individual creativity and community engagement.
Om-FLY’s approach to holistic practice and education is based in what founding director Jen Taylor calls the art/science of play. “Play is a back door to discipline. Watching children on an ordinary sunny afternoon in the backyard, you can see that exercise happens naturally in play.
