Ad Lib Incorporated of Pittsfield will host an Antiques, Coins and Collectibles Appraisal Day on Saturday, May 9, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held at 215 North Street.
Antiques and other miscellaneous items will be appraised by one of several local professionals, including Charles Flint of Flint Art and Antiques, Maria and Patricia St. Siskind (Williamstown), and Peter Karpenski of Berkshire Hills Coins and Antiques, Joanne Brett Simms (Great Barrington) and Jeff Wilson of Wild Sage.
Fees collected for appraisals will go to support the Ad Lib Drop-In Center. The appraisal fee for one item will be $5, and for three items, $10. Food will be available for purchase and a sale of crafts made by the Drop-In Center participants will also take place.
Our Place, the Ad Lib drop-in center, is a social and recreational place open to people with any disability. Counseling is available there for those who wish to have it. The Center gives people who might otherwise experience isolation a chance to meet others and make friends. Government funding cuts have already led to a cut in hours the Center is open and threaten the existence of this center. This fundraiser will help to ensure that it continues to be available to members of the community who need it.
