Grant Cottage tour guide, Steve Trimm, will tell the fascinating story of Harrison Tyrell, an African American who played a vital role in the last 18 months of the dying President’s life. Born a slave, Tyrell not only was one of Ulysses S. Grant’s closest companions, but also the father of a Harvard University graduate who was appointed the first black Municipal Court Judge in Washington D.C.
