Housatonic River Clean up Panel Discussion 7 p.m. The Berkshires’ Housatonic River is one of the most contaminated rivers in North America. For decades, toxic chemicals known as PCBs, generated from the General Electric facility in Pittsfield, were leached into the river. Last October, GE submitted a hotly contested plan to EPA for cleaning up a vast stretch of the river extending from Pittsfield into Connecticut. Engage with experts to evaluate and debate the cleanup alternatives, and technologies that could be used to clean up this remaining portion of the river. Free
