Park-like "rural" cemetery is an active, non-sectarian not-for-profit cemetery run by a volunteer board of trustees and assisted by a volunteer group, The Friends of Oakwood Cemetery, through fund-raising events such as walking tours, history & nature walks, a Spring Daffodil Brunch and a Fall Gala. Friends events help maintain the 600 acre grounds, the Queen Ann Victorian Gatehouse and the Nat'l Landmark Tiffany-windowed wheel-chair accessible Gardner Earl Chapel.
